In a lawsuit filed by Wayne’s former manager, it was revealed that the artist had sold his masters to the Universal Music Company that included Young Money’s entire catalog.
Masters are the original sound recording copyrights that are owned by the artists themselves. The topic came to light when Wayne’s ex-manager, Sweeney filed a lawsuit against Wayne.
He sued him for failing to pay the $20M he should have received after suing Cash Money Records, the company Young Money Entertainment was imprinted from, and from the sales of any master record owned by the Young Money imprint.
Sweeney worked for Wayne for 14 years and was available for him 24 hours a day as he stated.
The catalog included records from artists like Nicki Minaj, Drake and Lil Wayne himself.
